Today's mysticism is tomorrow's science. Marshall McLuhan

Greetings.

My name is Michael Sharp.

Let me tell you a bit about myself.

I was born on November 10, 1963 in Calgary, Alberta. I lived for a few years in a sleepy French town in Saskatchewan before moving to Regina, Saskatchewan, where I grew up and got most of my education (I completed an M.A. in Sociology at the University of Regina) before moving to Edmonton Alberta to complete a P.h.D. in Sociology. After a brief stint in Toronto, I came back to the prairies in order to finish my degree.

My own spiritual awakening began at a time when my wife and I were seeing a couple's therapist. This therapist was a holistic therapist who used words like "energy work" and vibration to describe aspects of the therapy and situation. At one point in the therapeutic process, she indicated that the visualization of colored energy patterns within the home could help reduce the intense negativity that existed within our home at that time. Initially I did not give her thinking much credence. However once afternoon, on a "whim," I decided to visualize a column of descending energy in the room I was occupying. I did so and then shortly after I began, I stood up and went and stood in the center of the energy column. At that point, perhaps because my musical training has given me heightened auditory capabilities, I heard a faint, but distinct tone. Curious, I stepped out of the column of energy and the tone ceased. I stepped into the column, and the tone reinstated itself. I conducted a few moments of empirical investigation and concluded that the tone was confined to the boundaries of my "imaginary" column and that the tone could be changed (either raised or lowered), but changing the color and characteristics of the imaginary column.

Now I wouldn't say that I became a spiritual convert at that point. That is, I did not throw of my scientific materialism that day. However, I was more intrigued, enough so that I began to look into this idea "energy work." This set me off on a short investigation that led me into new age and alternative spirituality where I learned a little about Chakras, chakra manipulation, and energy work. I purchased a couple books on Wicca and was generally led in a short circle around then current new age spiritual thinking. As a result of these investigation, specially at the urging of one of the Wiccan texts, I began to visualize the chakras of my body opening. The visualizations I used were, by my current standards, rather basic and theoretically uninformed, but they were still, to my amazement, and judging by the empirical manifestations that subsequently occurred, utterly effective in opening the Chakras of my body.

Now of course, at that time the chakras opened, I did not realize they had opened. I performed the visualizations, but did not experience any "energy flows" in my body. But other things happened. Specifically, my life exploded. Issues, fears, and other psychic challenges, which I had presumed had been dealt with many years ago (but in fact had been simply suppressed in the most Freudian off fashions), suddenly exploded into my life in some freakish daisy chain of manifested psychopathology. This went on for some time and I did not immediately make a causal connection to chakra activation, but I eventually did. One day, while considering the unlikely odds of re-experiencing several of my deepest, most hidden, issues, within a period of a few weeks, I made the rather fortuitous realization/discovery of the connection between "opening your chakras" and the manifestation of shit in your life. It was at that point that I concluded, even though I did not nearly understand what was going on, that there was something going on with Chakras, energy, and maybe even the new age movement.

So what did I do next?

Well nothing immediately. I continued to do the chakra activations (now that I was convinced further inquiry was necessary), but continued on with my normal life. Interestingly enough I noticed that as the days passed, the issues that had been coming up began to dissolve away. I finally fully recognized my problem with female authority, for example. Upon recognizing and accepting my "character flaw," and then putting it behind me by resolving to no longer have problems with female authority, the manifestations began to subside and, eventually, disappear. Seeing that I was on to something I continued on for a few weeks "clearing" my issues. As I did that, the manifestations gradually settled down and then evaporated all together and my life settled back to a semblance of normal.

Now at this point I had no idea what to make of things. I realized that there was something to chakras, but I couldn't figure it out. Interestingly enough, it was this point that I began to become discouraged because none of the explanation that were offered for chakras in the books and online articles I read, offered any great theoretical insight into what might be happening with all this chakra and energy stuff i was doing.

Now things might have gone on in this relatively benign way for a while, but they didn't. One day, something very big happened to me.

Sacred Stories

As noted elsewhere, Sacred Stories are part of the spiritual fabric of this planet. Sacred Stories provide our (sometimes conscious, but mostly unconscious) Thinking concepts. These thinking concepts, these Archetypes as C.G. Jung would have called them, provide a sort of template in consciousness that, according to my principle As above in consciousness, so below in matter, creates the social and psychological structures of this world in direct and unmediated fashion. There's no equivocation possible here. We live in a world of inequality, poverty, suffering, disease, violence, and war because our Thinking Concepts, our archetypes, say that this is so.

So where do our Thinking Concepts come from. Well as I said above, mostly from the sacred stories that are told to us again and again and again by the witting (but mostly unwitting) agents of The System. And it doesn't matter the culture or religion. We all get the same sacred story which is, as I explain in some detail in my book [still without a name], a story about duality, evil, darkness, "the shadow" duality, yin, yang, evolution, selection, reward, horrid punishment if you don't do what you're told, and yada, yada, yada. Different people get different versions of the story, of course. You can't fool a Harvard Professor with a Christian bedtime story after all. But you can if you give him the story. But I digress.

Anyway, as I say elsewhere, sacred stories are powerful and he who controls the sacred stories controls the manifestation of this world. For this reason, sacred stories are critical, and if we do nothing else in the next couple years, we should at least begin to question this world's sacred stories.

Why?

Because if what I say is true about the sacred stories creating the template of this world, then we need to change our template and fast because the world and the people on it aren't looking so healthy, happy, and wise anymore.

So, how do you that?

How do you change creation stories?

Well, that's a good question. It's a big job, really, and no single person can accomplish it. The truth is, it requires coordinated effort on the part of millions of people working at every level of consciousness. What's more, the process is complicated and prone to error and failure. Many things can, and have, gone wrong in the past, oh, 10,000 years or so. But I'm not going to get into that here. Instead, and since this page is about me, I'm going to talk about my contribution to the whole revision process.

And what's my contribution?

Well, it's my job to provide the "top-level" structures of the new Creation Template. And I don't mean to revise the old structures either. I mean to replace them. To provide a totally new creation template that, as it is installed into the collective consciousness of this planet will initiate individual empowerment and concurrent magical transformation of this planet.

Now I know it sounds like a big deal but it's not. Like I said, it's a big job and no single person can accomplish it. It requires team work, creative effort, constant mindful attention, and decades (formerly centuries) of work for each individual attempt. It's so difficult, in fact, that we've never gotten it right before. Truth is, we've failed several times. Our most recent failure to install workable templates was WWII when the lunatic Adolph Hitler tried to install his nightmarish Aryan templates into the world. Everybody knows what happened there. Very ugly. And that's only one example. There are others, although it is true that none failed quite so dramatically and violently as the last attempt. Anyway, the point here isn't to dredge up the past, the point here is that it's a job the requires collective effort, and I neither want nor need full credit.

It's a big job, requiring team work at multiple levels. For example, there's a kind of buildup that's required. One of the problems we've had in the past is that the new template is so different than the old template that circuits often get short-circuited in the Physical Unit (with sometimes disastrous consequences) or unmovable resistance pop up. As a result, we have had to move slowly, gradually massaging the collective consciousness towards the "dramatic" leap required at the end in order to avoid the collective psychological collapse of the Physical Unit. By the time you get to my part, you're talking about the work of millions of Lightworkers at every level of society, economy, and consciousness, working to build the foundation.

Like I said, it's a group effort.

But you still might be wondering about the specifics of my part and if so, then I'll tell you....later.

My Books

About My Books

Most of the books listed below are written for a lay audience, meaning they are grounded, accessible, easy to understand and process, and free of the self-important, often arrogantly applied, and obfuscatory discourse found in the sciences of this world. However, just because these books are grounded and accessible does not mean they are simple or lightweight. As commentators have consistently noted (in one form or another), these books are "deceptively simple yet deeply sophisticated" treatments of spiritual, physical, psychological, and esoteric matters.

What is perhaps more interesting is that, in addition to being written for lay audiences, all of the books written below (except the ones with an asterix at the end of the title) came about as the result of my facility with spiritual channeling (you will find Channeling explained by following the previous Wiki link). That is, in order to write these books I sat down at a computer, opened my Crown Chakra, and let the information flow onto the paper. In short, I "went within." I tapped into a deep, internal source (more appropriately sources) of knowledge and wisdom and then extracted (or grounded) that information into the material world.

Now, just because the information presented below has been "channeled" from The Fabric, doesn't mean it is incorrect information. In fact, anecdotally, and since writing my books, I have been rather astounded by the level of accuracy I have been able to attain by what early psychologists might have called "introspective" research and what I have called "intuitively-derived" books (Sharp, 2007). Of course, the evidence (as I say) is anecdotal and as such would not stand up to the rigorous expectations of most scientists. Nevertheless, I am impressed enough with it to begin the process of opening my process up to scrutiny by scientifically confirming what I have written (part of the reason for this SpiritWiki) with hard research and providing theoretical foundations for why it has worked for me. I have started the process in Neuropsychology with experimental support for my channeled guidance on the processing of fear (as presented in Dossier of the Ascension) and will continue through my monographs and poetry as time and evidence present themselves. I suspect that some of the evidence to support the accuracy of my channeled information is not yet available (or is being suppressed by science, business, and government), but will become so in a few months or years.

An Inquiry into the efficacy and validity of "channeled" materials.

I consider this process that I am undertaking and initially documenting in this SpiritWiki an experimental process. This is a formal evaluation of channeled material that will, I am hoping, provide strong and convincing support for my call for a new science and new spirituality based on an "epistemologically sophisticated" approach to the acquisition of knowledge and truth (see my comments on New World Spirituality (NWS) here) that goes beyond the Naive Materialism and Naive Empiricism of science's current ontological and epistemological models.

As I begin my research into the efficacy of "intuitively-derived information" (i.e., channeled information), my hypothesis is simply that intuitively-derived information can be (but not necessarily is) an accurate and valid form of knowledge acquisition. That is, by going within and tapping into what I have called the Fabric of Consciousness (Sharp, 2007a), we are capable of accessing sophisticated, even advanced, physical, mental, emotional, social, economic, and even spiritual truths. This test (some seven years in the making since I first started to write in 2001) will be a valid test because, as I have stated elsewhere (Sharp, 2007), during my hiatus from academic inquiry, and while I wrote all my (previous to 2008) channeled books, I made absolutely no effort to confirm what I was writing in any external literature, scientific or otherwise. I basically stopped reading books, journals, and articles of any kin, preferring my own introspective accounts over what I felt where the limited and even primitive popular and scholarly understanding represented in the "veiled" literature of this world. You may criticize and object to my evaluation if you like, but the fact is that this original disdain for the limited understanding of my scientific colleagues led me to isolate myself from their inquiry in a way that has made this experimental evaluation of channeled material not only possible, but potentially quite powerful.

So what do I expect to find? To be honest I am not altogether sure. I already know, informally, that there is a level of accuracy in my channeled material that defies the attempts of previous researchers (William James, Timothy Leary, Aldous Huxley, etc.), and I suspect that this will be confirmed as I peruse the hard scholarly literature. Do I expect to be 100 percent correct? I don't know. For reasons that are explained elsewhere (Sharp, 2006), I do believe that proper access to the Fabric of Consciousness does potentially allow access to extremely accurate and advanced knowledge and truths. Of course, the keyword here is popular. As I explain elsewhere (Sharp, 2009), channeling is not an activity without its pitfalls. Just like the empirical methodologies of science are fraught with difficulty and prone to error and bias, so too are the methodologies of mysticism prone to error and open to bias and even influence. Each requires careful attention to detail and procedure, careful analysis, and conscientious application. That is, we can no more expect an untrained individual to go into a scientific laboratory and perform an adequate experiment than we can expect an untrained mystic to go into the mystical laboratory and draw down accurate, grounded, and properly-interpreted information. If the reader is interested, the methodology of channeling is something that I deal with extensively in my forthcoming Book of Magic.

As a final note, I would just like to point out to the reader that there is a long and honorable tradition of mystical inquiry in science. As Leary (1988) has pointed out, even a scientific figure as honorable and revered as Sir Isaac Newton spent part of his scientific career in internal searching and alchemical and theological inquiry. In this way, I am no different than any other natural or social scientist who, after becoming disillusioned with the limitations of and one-dimensionality of the spiritually- and cosmologically-naive methods of science, moves inwards to discover the true location of the Library of Alexandria. In the end it is my hope that my modern example will provide inspiration and courage to all those scientists (young and old) who are dissatisfied with the progress and direction of modern science and who wish to find ways, not to supplement scientific methods, but to move beyond current establishment thinking into a new world of epistemologically- and spiritually-sophisticated scientific inquiry.

To get a glimpse of the results of this experiment, you can follow the links to the books below where you will find a brief description of the contents of each of books, followed by a review of relevant empirical literature. I warn you that there isn't much there now but I will expand the documentation in the months ahead as I build this SpiritWiki into this world's first repository of sophisticated, New World Spirituality and New World Science. As a general note, I will provide documentation for only those informational aspects of the books, which I could not have known prior to the channeling experience. That is, I will weed out my limited psychological knowledge and my more extensive sociological knowledge and only document aspects of information that I clearly bring in through my mystical connection. Where relevant, I will comment on the distinction and demarcate appropriate boundaries. You may also consult my Notes and Observations for material not yet categorized or incorporated into the Spiritwiki.
