Disjuncture
Disjuncture is the disconnect between what God (and by "God" I mean God with a big "G") or your higher consciousness wants, and what is actually happening in the material world. For example, God does not want children to die of starvation, yet they do every minute of every day. In addition, God (or your higher consciousness) does not appreciate unnecessary suffering, the exploitation of innocents, the intentional oppression of others, or systematic attempts to destroy in the interests of personal greed and gain, yet these things happen all time. The disconnect between what God (as an Immortal, compassionate, loving, and powerful entity) wants, and what the disconnected physical units do is known as disjuncture. For a more detailed explanation please see The Basic Book.
Disjuncture often results in the uncomfortable feeling of guilt. When a no more than moderately damaged physical unit is behaving in a way that is dramatically out of alignment with the animating Monadic Consciousness, then the physical unit may experience guilt as a result of this disjuncture. The guilt is caused by the action of the animating monadic consciousness as it attempts to impress upon the physical unit the seriousness of the disjunctive behavior. The more out of alignment the behavior is, the more intense the guilt will be. In this context the experience of disjuncture can range anywhere from mild discomfort and guilt to intense physical pain, nausea, and even vomiting.
It is important to note that a severally damaged physical unit, with minimal and/or heavily repressed connection to The Fabric of Consciousness, may not experience disjuncture even when exhibiting holocaust like misalignment.
The physical unit has two options when it comes to alleviating the guilt that occurs under conditions of disjuncture, either straighten up and fly right (i.e. get into alignment with the animating consciousness), or suppress emotional responses and disconnect from the animating consciousness. Obviously only the former will lead to a healthy and properly activated physical unit. The later requires various levels of self repression.
There are various strategies that the physical unit may use to suppress emotional responses (in order to not feel guilt) and disconnect including drug and alcohol abuse, hyperactivity (never slowing down enough to be "alone" with one's emotions), the pursuit of superficial and aggrandizing relationships (i.e. finding others who will mollify negative emotions by enabling disjunctive behaviors, or example by helping to find excuses for the exploitation of others), self destructive behaviours (designed to shorten the lifespan of the physical unit) and so on. Of course, use of these strategies will only succeed in enhancing disjuncture, thereby undermining the physical and psychological health of the physical unit, and raising the question of long term viability (from the perspective of the animating consciousness) of the physical unit.
