Counterculture
Counterculture - Values, beliefs, norms, customs, traditions, behaviors, and ways of thinking that are not concurrent with the dominant culture in a given society. The counterculture (or subculture) prescribes a set of standards that serve to fulfill a more desirable and comfortable identity for the individual rather than the type of identity offered by other counter or dominant cultures. Examples of countercultures include: Gothic or Hippie lifestyles.
